The St Davids Cathedral Festival returns from 22nd-31st May 2026, bringing a packed programme of world-class music, performances and cultural events to Britain’s smallest city.
Set within the stunning surroundings of St Davids Cathedral, the festival features a mix of classical music, choral performances, orchestras, contemporary artists and emerging Welsh talent throughout the half-term week.
Visitors can enjoy everything from intimate coffee concerts and choir performances to large-scale evening events inside the historic cathedral, creating one of the most unique cultural experiences in Wales during May half term.
Seabirds Discovery Day in St Davids
One of the lovely nature-focused events during May half term is the Seabirds Discovery Day taking place on Thursday 28th May at Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre in St Davids, Pembrokeshire.
The event celebrates the incredible wildlife of the Pembrokeshire coastline with a full day of expert talks, guided coastal walks, live demonstrations and family-friendly activities focused around the county’s famous seabird populations.
Visitors will have the chance to learn about puffins, Skomer Island and marine conservation from former seabird wardens and National Park Rangers, while children can enjoy hands-on workshops including clay seabird sculpting activities.
The day will also feature demonstrations from specially trained biosecurity detection dogs helping to protect Wales’ seabird islands, alongside a courtyard market and wildlife-themed exhibits throughout the centre.
Dragons, Falconry & Knight School At Pembroke Castle
Pembroke Castle is hosting a variety of family-friendly half-term activities.
Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy medieval-themed experiences including Knight School training sessions, dragon-themed adventures, falconry displays and interactive historical entertainment within the castle grounds.
With its towering walls, underground caves and spectacular location overlooking the mill pond, Pembroke Castle offers a brilliant mix of history, adventure and hands-on activities perfect for a family day out during half term.
Launch of the Giant Trebuchet at Carew Castle
Wednesday 27 May, 2.30pm
Head to Carew Castle for the launch of the Giant Trebuchet! A huge medieval catapult that was used to attack castles, forts and towns hundreds of years ago. Watch as this ingenious and powerful weapon of siege is unleashed, see the power of medieval engineering in action.
Learn how huge stones were flung with enough force to breach the strongest of fortifications. Other things that were flung included plagued bodies, rotting animal carcasses, and burning tar!

Magical Makes with Whimsical Wildlings Carew Castle
Friday 29 and Saturday 30 May, 10.30am – 2pm
Join Whimsical Wildlings for enchanting children’s crafts inside the castle’s atmospheric undercroft! Little adventurers can decorate their very own items to treasure at home; inspired by tales of knights, princesses and castle quests. These drop-in sessions offer a creative diversion for families exploring the Castle from just £2 per item. Perfect for children of all ages – come and let your creativity reign!
